Crescent City Grill in Hattiesburg has what I consider to be the best chicken sandwich in town. The “Blackened Chicken Sandwich” is boneless, skinless chicken breast dusted with Cajun spices, blackened and topped with jack cheese and fried jalapenos (from the CCG menu). The Smokehouse Restaurant in Oak Grove is opening soon. (**Update, it seems to have just opened April 10th!). It is located at the four way stop across the intersection from the Exxon gasoline station (Old Hwy 11 & Old Hwy 24 intersection).
