Hattiesburg Website Designer

By admin on June 4, 2009

Designing affordable websites for the Hattiesburg area was an idea forged in the fire of my own website projects. I originally created a website called Debt Prison to help creditors who had defaulted on their credit card debt. I worked tirelessly on the site for a year and it now has 18,000 visitors per month. Trial and error has made me quite good at designing websites using Wordpress templates. And having my own site hacked once taught me the invaluable lessons of web security.

My goal as the Hattiesburg Website Designer is to create affordable websites for small businesses who aren’t web savvy but need a dominant web presence. Many business owners, and start-ups in particular, have little understanding of just how powerful the right website can be and how it can impact your bottom line.

I use Wordpress to build all websites because it comes with a variety of available free templates to use and is open source coding. Open source means that the code for the Wordpress platform is free and available to anyone who wants to use it. Because it is available to everyone it is very secure. Since any flaws in the latest version are immediately patched and updates are issued immediately for download. The templates already have most of the website design completed so time spent building the site is minimal. This enables me to have a website up in just days for my clients.

If you’re ready to get started growing your business with a respectful website presence contact me with any questions you may have.

When deciding on the URL (domain name) it’s important to consider a few options (keep in mind that I’ll purchase the domain for you when you pay the first installment of the $300 pack). First off, what is the purpose of building a website for your small company or hobby? The purpose, hopefully, is to assist potential customers or readers in finding your website. Having a beautiful website and a clever domain name won’t mean much if people cannot find it. If you’re a start-up business, and you’re not using a nationally recognized business name, then picking a domain name that’s the name of your business may be a horrible idea. Let me explain…

My wife needed a website to promote her new photography business. Her first desire was to try and obtain “ktmphotography.com” because that was the name of her business… ktm photography. I had to spend some time explaining to her why choosing that domain name was a bad idea. Google Search Engine ranks websites according to what googlebot thinks the website is about. And since we live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi… google search engine would have no way of knowing that ktm photography has anything to do with Hattiesburg.

As I explained to my wife, what is a person in Hattiesburg going to type into google search engine if they need a local photographer? Are they going to type in “ktm photography”… or are they much more likely to type in “hattiesburg photographer”? Obviously the answer is “hattiesburg photographer”. Therefore I convinced my wife to purchase the domain “myhattiesburgphotographer.com”. One of those pesky domain name squatters was sitting on hattiesburgphotographer.com so I didn’t bother contacting them to see how much they would sell the domain for. The one I selected will work just as well for our purposes.

You have to ask yourself. Am I a well established business? Or am I a start-up that few people have heard of and I need to use the internet to lure in potential customers? The answer to those two questions will have much to do with how we select the domain name.

What is a URL/domain?

By admin on May 27, 2009

The URL, or domain, is simply the unique address of the website. For this website, the URL is http://explorehattiesburg.com, which you can see by looking at the top of this page in the white bar. URL’s are for sale - I’ll buy one for you when you purchase the $300 Package ($150 required up front). Once purchased, your domain must be hosted (I’ll cover that too, if you purchase my monthly maintenance program for $35). Hosting is a monthly expense. I use Internet Planners to host all of my websites. Even if you choose not to use my monthly maintenance program, you’ll still have to pay a host monthly to keep your site up and functioning.

Why can’t I use a free website builder like blogger?

You can, but you are very limited with what you can accomplish with your website at those types of free accounts.

Thank You
