Big Buck Sports of Hattiesburg to close doors summer 2010

What is currently a rumor is being circulated around town that Big Buck Sports of Hattiesburg will be closing soon. The Price family sold the highly respected and profitable business to a new set of owners just over three years ago. Reasons for the closure are unclear at this time. However, if a business closes, rather than being sold… it is usually because the business is not profitable.

Gander Mountain opened in the Fall of 2007 and likely dealt Big Buck Sports a fatal blow. Big Buck was opened by the Price family around 30 years ago and quickly became a favorite retailer of outdoor sporting goods in the area.

Rumor also has it that Big Buck Sports future location further west on 98 may be sold to Academy Sports.

I’ve heard the ‘new owners’ are trying to blame the Price’s for the failure of the business.

Of course it couldn’t have ANYTHING to do with the fact that the ‘new owners’ ran the place with the sole intention of bankrupting it! From all appearances… that’s exactly what they planned on doing from the beginning.
